Make quick, high-protein chicken breasts in the air fryer that stay juicy inside with a crispy exterior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra crisp)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts completely dry with paper towels. This step helps achieve crispiness.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Rub the olive oil over both sides of the chicken breasts.
  4. Sprinkle the spice mix evenly over the chicken. If using Parmesan, press it onto one side of each breast.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 3 minutes.
  6. Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. If using Parmesan, place the cheese side up.
  7. Cook for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Cooking time depends on thickness.
  8. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer; it should read 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and let the chicken rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For thicker breasts, you may need to pound them to an even thickness (about 3/4 inch) for consistent cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary to maintain air circulation.
  • If you skip the Parmesan, you can lightly spray the top with cooking spray before the final few minutes of cooking for better browning.
