Make crispy, delicious chicken taquitos using your air fryer. This recipe gives you that satisfying crunch without the need for deep frying. It is perfect for a fun snack or an easy meal component.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, salsa, chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. Mix well until everything is fully incorporated.
  3. Warm the corn tortillas briefly in the microwave (about 15-20 seconds) to make them pliable and prevent cracking.
  4. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the chicken mixture onto the center of each warm tortilla.
  5. Roll the tortillas tightly into taquitos. Secure with a toothpick if necessary.
  6. Lightly brush or spray the outside of the taquitos with olive oil or cooking spray. This helps them crisp up.
  7. Place the taquitos in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if needed. Do not overcrowd the basket.
  8. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  9. Carefully remove the toothpicks before serving. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • If your tortillas crack when rolling, warm them for a few more seconds.
  • You can use leftover rotisserie chicken for quick preparation.
  • Serve with sour cream, guacamole, or extra salsa for dipping.
