Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground turkey (85% or 93% lean)
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (Panko recommended)
1 large egg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
4 hamburger buns
Your preferred toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
Lightly brush both sides of the turkey patties with olive oil.
Place the patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. You may need to cook in batches.
Air fry for 10 minutes. Flip the burgers carefully.
Continue to air fry for another 4 to 6 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Total cook time is usually 14 to 16 minutes.
Remove the burgers from the air fryer. If using cheese, place a slice on top immediately after removing and let it melt for one minute.
Serve immediately on buns with your chosen toppings.
Notes
Using slightly fattier ground turkey (85% lean) helps keep the burgers moist in the air fryer.
For make-ahead patties, form them and place them on a parchment-lined tray. Freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. Cook directly from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes to the total cook time.
To prevent sticking, lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray before adding the patties.
