This apple cider sangria recipe is perfect for autumn gatherings. It combines fresh apple cider with white wine and brandy, complemented by chopped apples and oranges. This large-batch cocktail is a make-ahead, crowd-pleasing drink that tastes like fall in a glass, ideal for Halloween parties, tailgates, or Thanksgiving pre-dinner sips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle dry white wine (such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 cups fresh apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 2 large apples, cored and chopped (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 1 large orange, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
  • Sparkling water or seltzer, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the white wine, apple cider, and brandy.
  2. Add the chopped apples and orange slices to the pitcher.
  3. If desired, stir in the maple syrup and add the cinnamon stick.
  4. Stir everything together gently to combine.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Before serving, give the sangria a good stir.
  7. Pour the sangria into glasses, making sure to include some of the fruit.
  8. If desired, top each glass with a splash of sparkling water or seltzer for a little fizz.

Notes

  • For best flavor, make the sangria at least 2 hours ahead of time.
  • You can use a sparkling wine instead of still white wine for a bubbly sangria.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more or less maple syrup.
  • This sangria is excellent served over ice.
