Learn how to make classic spicy jalapeño poppers stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. These poppers are the ultimate party snack, offering a perfect balance of heat, creaminess, and smoky flavor. Elias and Hannah from Flavor Vista share their simple and delicious recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeño peppers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 slices bacon, halved

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and membranes. You can wear gloves to protect your hands from the heat.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped chives, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spoon or pipe the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half.
  5. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño half with a half-slice of bacon. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  6. Place the bacon-wrapped jalapeños on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the jalapeños are tender.
  8. For extra crispiness, you can broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a milder flavor, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeños.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, leave some seeds in.
  • You can substitute other cheeses like Monterey Jack or pepper jack for variation.
  • Ensure your bacon is evenly wrapped for consistent cooking.
