Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers are a classic appetizer. Halved jalapeños are filled with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon, and then grilled or baked until crispy. Serve this spicy, cheesy finger food at your next barbecue or tailgate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeño peppers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 12 slices bacon, cut in half crosswise

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat (around 350-375°F) or your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Carefully slice each jalapeño pepper in half lengthwise and use a small spoon to remove the seeds and membranes. For less heat, remove all seeds and membranes.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spoon or pipe the cream cheese mixture into each jalapeño half, filling it generously.
  5. Take one half slice of bacon and wrap it tightly around each filled jalapeño half. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  6. Place the bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers directly on the grill grates or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Grill for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the bacon is crispy and the jalapeños are tender. If baking, bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and golden brown.
  8. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to prevent skin irritation.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or a dash of hot sauce to the cream cheese mixture.
  • You can prepare these poppers ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking.
