Ingredients
Scale
3-4 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
(Optional) 1-2 tablespoons plant-based milk (almond, soy, or oat) for smoother consistency
(Optional) Flavor add-ins like cocoa powder, vanilla extract, a pinch of cinnamon, or a spoonful of nut butter
Instructions
Peel and slice ripe bananas into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
Place banana slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 2-3 hours, or until solid.
Transfer frozen banana slices to a food processor or high-speed blender.
Process the bananas. Initially, they will look crumbly. Scrape down the sides as needed.
Continue processing. The bananas will go through stages: crumbly, then sticky, then a soft-serve consistency.
If the mixture is too thick, add plant-based milk one tablespoon at a time until it reaches your desired creaminess.
Add any optional flavor add-ins and process until well combined.
Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture. For a firmer ice cream, transfer to an airtight container and freeze for an additional 1-2 hours.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and sweetness.
For a chocolate nice cream, add 1-2 tablespoons of cocoa powder during blending.
Top with fresh fruit, nuts, or a drizzle of maple syrup.
Nice cream is best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftovers in the freezer for up to a week. It may become very firm; let it thaw slightly before serving.
