Make a sweet and savory grilled cheese sandwich using fresh blueberries and creamy cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices artisan bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 ounces brie cheese, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Gently toss the fresh blueberries with the lemon zest and sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Layer the brie cheese slices over the bread in the skillet.
  5. Distribute the sugared blueberries evenly over the cheese.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  7. Grill for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing down lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a mild, creamy cheese like brie or mascarpone for the best melt and flavor balance.
  • For a richer flavor, use sourdough or brioche bread.
  • If fresh blueberries are unavailable, use 1 tablespoon of thick blueberry jam instead of fresh berries and sugar.
