Ingredients
Salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
Soy sauce (2 tablespoons)
Garlic powder (1 teaspoon)
Olive oil (1 tablespoon)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and soy sauce until the sugar mostly dissolves. Stir in the garlic powder.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Brush the tops lightly with olive oil. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down.
Spoon the brown sugar mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet, creating a glaze.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the glaze is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
Serve immediately.
Notes
You can substitute maple syrup for some of the brown sugar for a different sweetness profile.
Ensure your oven is fully preheated before placing the salmon inside for even cooking.
If your fillets are very thick, you may need to add 2-3 minutes to the cooking time.
