Make ultra-rich, fudgy brownies with a deep chocolate flavor thanks to the addition of Guinness Stout beer. These brownies deliver intense chocolate satisfaction.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup Guinness Stout beer
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat.
  3. Whisk the sugar and cocoa powder into the melted butter until smooth.
  4. Pour in the Guinness Stout and stir well.
  5. Whisk in the eggs one at a time, mixing until just combined after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  7. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  9. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. The edges should look set, and a toothpick inserted near the center should come out with moist crumbs, not wet batter.
  10. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting them out using the parchment overhang.
  11. Cut into squares and enjoy your fudgy treat.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for better incorporation.
  • Do not overbake; these brownies are best when fudgy.
  • The stout flavor bakes out, leaving behind a deep chocolate note.
  • You can substitute another dark stout if Guinness is unavailable.
