Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined to form a crumbly dough.
  3. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  4. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and corn syrup.
  5. Beat in the eggs one at a time until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Stir in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the pecan and chocolate mixture evenly over the dough base.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For an extra rich chocolate flavor, you can add a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder to the dough.
  • If you prefer a smoother filling, you can lightly toast the pecans before chopping them.
  • Ensure the bars are completely cooled before cutting to prevent them from falling apart.
