Create a delightful holiday treat with this Chocolate Salted Caramel Pretzel Bark. It combines sweet chocolate, gooey caramel, and salty pretzel crunch for an easy, festive snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup pretzel twists, crushed
  • Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Cook the mixture for exactly 1 minute after it reaches a full boil. Remove from heat immediately.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Spread the batter thinly onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let it sit for 5 minutes to melt.
  9. Spread the melted chocolate evenly across the toffee base.
  10. Sprinkle the crushed pretzels and flaky sea salt over the melted chocolate. Press them gently into the chocolate layer.
  11. Allow the bark to cool completely at room temperature, or chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes until firm.
  12. Once firm, break the bark into irregular pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • You can substitute the semisweet chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate based on your preference.
  • For extra crunch, add some chopped nuts along with the pretzels.
  • Ensure you boil the caramel mixture for the full minute to properly set the toffee layer.
