Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
  3. While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about one minute until fragrant. Do not let it brown.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper into the skillet. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
  5. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs until smooth.
  6. Add the drained spaghetti to the sauce mixture in the skillet. Stir to coat.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat. Gently stir in 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese into the spaghetti mixture.
  8. Pour half of the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Pour the remaining spaghetti mixture over the cheese layer. Top with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  10. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown.
  11. Let the bake rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use roasted garlic instead of fresh minced garlic.
  • You can add cooked, shredded chicken or Italian sausage for a heartier meal.
  • If you prefer a tangier sauce, use half marinara and half crushed tomatoes.
