Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 oz Whiskey or Bourbon
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 oz Honey Syrup (2 parts honey to 1 part hot water)
  • 1 oz Pear Puree or Pear Nectar
  • 0.25 oz Fresh Ginger Juice (or 3 thin slices of fresh ginger)
  • Hot Water (to top)
  • Garnish: Thin pear slice or lemon wheel

Instructions

  1. Warm your mug or heatproof glass with hot water, then discard the water.
  2. If using ginger slices, place them in the bottom of the mug.
  3. Add the whiskey, lemon juice, honey syrup, pear puree, and ginger juice (if using juice) to the mug.
  4. Stir briefly to combine the ingredients.
  5. Fill the mug almost to the top with hot water.
  6. Stir gently until the honey is fully dissolved and the drink is heated through.
  7. Garnish with a thin pear slice or a lemon wheel.
  8. Enjoy this warm drink immediately.

Notes

  • To make ginger juice, grate fresh ginger and press the pulp through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
  • If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor, muddle the ginger slices before adding the liquids.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to suit your sweetness preference.
  • This drink works well with spiced rum if you wish to substitute the whiskey.
