Make this bright Hibiscus Peppermint Iced Tea. Its tart hibiscus and cool peppermint create a refreshing drink, perfect for enjoying even in the winter months.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 hibiscus tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose leaf hibiscus)
  • 4 peppermint tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose leaf peppermint)
  • 1/4 cup sweetener (adjust to your taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring the 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Remove the water from the heat.
  3. Add the hibiscus tea bags and peppermint tea bags to the hot water.
  4. Steep the tea for 5 to 7 minutes. Do not over-steep, or the hibiscus can become too tart.
  5. Remove and discard the tea bags or strain out the loose leaves.
  6. Stir in your chosen sweetener until it dissolves completely.
  7. Allow the tea to cool slightly at room temperature.
  8. Pour the tea into a pitcher.
  9. Refrigerate the tea until thoroughly chilled, at least 2 hours.
  10. To serve, fill glasses with ice and pour the chilled tea over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices if desired.

Notes

  • You can make this tea ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a stronger flavor, increase the steeping time by one minute.
  • Adjust the sweetener amount based on how sweet you like your tea. Honey or maple syrup work well as alternatives to sugar.
