Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
Vegetable oil, for frying
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to your heat preference)
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Pat the chicken strips dry with paper towels.
In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
In a second shallow dish, whisk the eggs and milk together.
In a third shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.
Dredge each chicken strip first in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
Dip the floured strip into the egg mixture, letting excess drip off.
Coat the strip completely in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large, heavy-bottomed skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Carefully place the chicken strips in the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Fry for 4 to 6 minutes, turning once, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C).
Remove the chicken and place it on a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain excess oil.
While the chicken drains, prepare the hot honey: In a small saucepan, gently heat the honey, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar over low heat until combined and runny. Do not boil.
Toss the warm, crispy chicken strips in the hot honey mixture until fully coated.
Serve immediately and enjoy your flavorful meal.
Notes
For extra crispiness, chill the breaded strips for 15 minutes before frying.
Use your favorite style of hot sauce to control the spice level.
If you prefer less mess, you can bake the strips at 400°F (200°C) for 18-20 minutes, then toss with the sauce.
