Ingredients
Scale
2 thick-cut ham steaks (about 6-8 oz each)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
Pat the ham steaks dry with paper towels.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Place the ham steaks in the hot skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side until lightly browned. Remove the ham steaks from the skillet and set them aside.
In the same skillet, combine the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper.
Bring the glaze mixture to a simmer over medium-low heat, stirring until the brown sugar dissolves, about 1 minute.
Return the ham steaks to the skillet. Spoon the glaze over the steaks.
Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, turning to coat completely, until the glaze thickens slightly and adheres to the ham.
Remove the ham steaks from the skillet and serve immediately with the remaining pan glaze spooned over the top.
Notes
For a crispier edge, increase the heat slightly during the final minute of glazing.
Serve these ham steaks with mashed potatoes or roasted green beans.
You can make this recipe ahead by preparing the glaze separately and storing it in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat the glaze before using.
