Make a bright and refreshing Iced Pineapple Matcha Spritz at home. This recipe combines earthy matcha with sweet pineapple and sparkling water for a cool, tropical beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • 2 ounces hot water (175°F / 80°C)
  • 4 ounces pineapple juice, chilled
  • 4 ounces sparkling water or club soda, chilled
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Pineapple wedge, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl or matcha bowl.
  2. Pour the hot water over the sifted matcha.
  3. Whisk the matcha vigorously using a bamboo whisk or small electric frother until it is smooth and slightly frothy, with no clumps remaining.
  4. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  5. Pour the chilled pineapple juice into the glass over the ice.
  6. Gently pour the prepared matcha mixture over the pineapple juice.
  7. Top the drink with the chilled sparkling water or club soda.
  8. If using, drizzle the simple syrup over the top.
  9. Stir gently once or twice to combine the layers slightly.
  10. Garnish with a pineapple wedge on the rim of the glass.

Notes

  • Use cold filtered water for the best flavor when mixing the matcha base.
  • For a sweeter drink, increase the simple syrup to 1.5 teaspoons.
  • If you do not have sparkling water, use plain cold water, but the drink will lose its ‘spritz’ quality.
  • Use a high-quality matcha for the best color and least bitterness.
