This recipe transforms Brussels sprouts into a delightful side dish. Roasting them with bacon and maple syrup creates a caramelized, sweet, and smoky flavor that even picky eaters will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, cut into ½-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Toss the trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper on a large baking sheet.
  3. In a separate pan, cook the bacon pieces over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon, leaving the rendered fat in the pan.
  4. Add the cooked bacon to the Brussels sprouts on the baking sheet.
  5. Drizzle the maple syrup over the Brussels sprouts and bacon. Toss to coat evenly.
  6. Roast for 20-25 minutes, or until the Brussels sprouts are tender-crisp and caramelized, stirring halfway through.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure the Brussels sprouts are in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  • Adjust the amount of maple syrup to your sweetness preference.
  • This dish is excellent for fall dinners and holiday feasts.
