Ingredients
Scale
1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
4 slices bacon, chopped
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon to the skillet.
Cook the bacon until it is crisp. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside, leaving the bacon drippings in the skillet.
Add the olive oil to the skillet with the bacon drippings and increase the heat to medium-high.
Add the halved Brussels sprouts to the hot skillet. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to brown and become tender-crisp.
Reduce the heat to low. Drizzle the maple syrup over the Brussels sprouts.
Toss gently to coat the sprouts evenly with the maple syrup. Cook for 1 more minute.
Return the cooked bacon to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
Toss everything together one last time and serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure your skillet is quite hot before adding the Brussels sprouts for the best char.
You can substitute turkey bacon if you prefer a leaner option.
Adjust the maple syrup amount based on how sweet you like your finished dish.
