Ingredients
Scale
1.5 oz Tequila Blanco
1 oz Cranberry Juice (unsweetened is best)
0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
0.5 oz Orange Liqueur (like Cointreau)
0.5 oz Simple Syrup (adjust to taste)
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Small pinch Ground Cinnamon
Small pinch Ground Clove
Garnish: Lime wheel and sugared cranberries
Instructions
Gather all your ingredients. You will need a cocktail shaker and a chilled margarita glass or rocks glass.
In the cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, cranberry juice, lime juice, orange liqueur, simple syrup, bitters, cinnamon, and clove.
Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice.
Seal the shaker tightly and shake hard until the outside is very cold, about 15-20 seconds.
If using a rocks glass, fill it with fresh ice. If using a coupe or margarita glass, you can serve it up (without ice).
Double strain the mixture into your prepared glass.
Garnish each drink with a lime wheel and a few sugared cranberries.
Notes
For a stronger mulling flavor, you can infuse your simple syrup with a cinnamon stick and a star anise pod while heating.
If you prefer a salt rim, use a mixture of fine salt and a tiny amount of orange zest.
Taste the cranberry juice first; if it is heavily sweetened, reduce the simple syrup slightly.
