Ingredients
Scale
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup Nutella
1 ripe banana, sliced thinly
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional, for sprinkling)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface.
Spread the Nutella evenly over the entire surface of the pastry, leaving a small border on one long edge.
Arrange the thin banana slices over the Nutella, covering the surface.
Starting from the long edge opposite the border, tightly roll the pastry into a log.
Brush the un-spread edge lightly with the beaten egg to seal the roll.
Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices. Place the slices cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
Brush the tops of the rolls with the remaining egg wash.
If using, sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
Let the rolls cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
Use slightly firm bananas so they hold their shape during rolling and baking.
If you prefer a less sweet roll, you can use less Nutella.
These freeze well before baking; just place them on a tray, freeze solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
