Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the beef dry and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef cubes on all sides until browned.
  5. Transfer the seared beef to the slow cooker.
  6. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  7. Add the sautéed onions and beef broth to the slow cooker.
  8. Pour the honey garlic sauce mixture over the beef.
  9. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender.
  10. About 30 minutes before serving, stir the cornstarch slurry into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
  11. Stir well and let the sauce thicken.
  12. Serve the honey garlic beef hot, spooning the sauce over the top.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can marinate the beef in the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger mixture for at least 30 minutes before searing.
  • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or your favorite side dish.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for extra flavor and presentation.
