Make tender, flavorful chicken with ease using your slow cooker. This recipe combines the sweet tang of maple syrup with the sharp bite of Dijon mustard for a comforting winter meal requiring minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Shred the chicken with two forks directly in the slow cooker, allowing it to absorb the extra sauce.
  6. Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or on buns.

Notes

  • You can use chicken thighs for a richer flavor and moister result.
  • If the sauce seems too thin after shredding, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow some liquid to evaporate.
  • This chicken freezes very well for future quick meals.
