Ingredients
Scale
1 large orange, peeled and segmented
1/2 cup frozen banana slices
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
1/4 teaspoon ground star anise (or 1 whole star anise pod, removed before blending)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
3-4 ice cubes (optional, for extra chill)
Instructions
Place the peeled orange segments, frozen banana slices, almond milk, ground star anise, chia seeds, and sweetener (if using) into a high-speed blender.
If using a whole star anise pod, make sure it is visible so you can remove it later.
Add ice cubes if you prefer a thicker, colder smoothie.
Secure the blender lid. Start blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high.
Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop the blender and scrape down the sides if necessary.
If you used a whole star anise pod, carefully remove it now.
Pour the smoothie into a glass.
Serve immediately and enjoy your morning boost.
Notes
For a thicker smoothie, use less liquid or add a few more frozen banana slices.
If you do not have ground star anise, use a tiny pinch of ground cinnamon or ground cloves as an alternative spice.
You can prepare the orange segments ahead of time and freeze them for an even colder result.
