Ingredients
Nuts (mixed, such as almonds, pecans, cashews) – 2 cups
Sweet chili sauce – 1/4 cup
Maple syrup or honey – 2 tablespoons
Soy sauce or tamari – 1 teaspoon
Smoked paprika – 1/2 teaspoon
Cayenne pepper – 1/4 teaspoon (adjust to your liking)
Salt – a pinch
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, maple syrup (or honey), soy sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt.
Add the nuts to the bowl. Toss gently until every nut is evenly coated with the sweet chili mixture.
Spread the coated nuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not let them overlap too much.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. Watch them closely toward the end to prevent burning.
Remove from the oven and let the nuts cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.
Store your sweet chili roasted nuts in an airtight container.
Notes
We suggest using a mix of nuts for the best texture and flavor variety.
For a deeper smoky flavor, consider adding a tiny dash of liquid smoke to the sauce mixture.
If you are giving these as a gift, package them in clear cellophane bags tied with kitchen twine.
