- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 large jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
- Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the honey and chopped jalapeño.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cornbread cool slightly before slicing and serving.
