Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs Russet Potatoes, peeled and quartered
1/2 cup Whole Milk, warm
4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, softened
2 tablespoons Truffle Oil
1 teaspoon Salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper, freshly ground
Optional: 1 tablespoon finely chopped Chives for garnish
Instructions
Place the quartered potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold, salted water.
Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat and simmer until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Drain the potatoes completely in a colander. Let them sit for a minute to allow excess steam to escape.
Return the drained potatoes to the hot, empty pot. Mash them thoroughly using a potato masher.
Warm the milk gently on the stovetop or in the microwave. Do not boil it.
Add the softened butter to the mashed potatoes. Fold it in until it melts completely.
Gradually pour in the warm milk while continuing to mash or whip until the potatoes reach your desired creamy consistency.
Stir in the truffle oil, salt, and pepper. Mix just until combined. Avoid overmixing.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Serve immediately, garnished with fresh chives if you wish.
Notes
Use high-quality truffle oil for the best flavor impact.
Warm milk incorporates more smoothly, preventing the potatoes from becoming gummy.
For extra richness, substitute half of the butter with cream cheese.
If you prefer a smoother texture, pass the potatoes through a ricer after mashing.
