Ingredients
Scale
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon espresso powder (optional)
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 large eggs
1 cup caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
Stir in the vanilla extract and espresso powder (if using).
Add the cocoa powder and stir until it’s fully incorporated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Beat in the eggs one at a time until the batter is smooth and glossy.
Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
Drizzle about 1/2 cup of caramel sauce over the batter.
Carefully pour the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer, spreading it gently to cover.
Drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top of the brownies.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.
Notes
For an even more intense caramel flavor, use a good quality caramel sauce.
You can add chopped nuts to the brownie batter for extra texture.
Ensure your eggs are at room temperature for best results.
